We live in a time when young people grow up surrounded by global media, digital environments, and rapidly changing social realities. Modern life offers unprecedented opportunities for connection and access to information. Yet it also presents a profound challenge that many families across the world increasingly recognize: the gradual erosion of cultural memory and the weakening of meaningful identity.

Küresel medya ve dijital çevreler içinde büyüyen gençler, kültürel belleğin silinmesine karşı savunmasız kalıyor.

In a world shaped by constant speed, consumption, and digital distraction, individuals often encounter an abundance of information but a diminishing sense of orientation. The question of identity — who we are, where we come from, and how we understand ourselves — becomes more difficult to answer when the cultural narratives that once provided continuity and grounding begin to fade.

Hız, tüketim ve dijital dikkat dağıtıcılığının hüküm sürdüğü bir dünyada, bireyler bilgi bolluğuyla karşılaşıyor ama yön duygusu azalıyor.

Across societies today, many young people grow up between multiple cultural environments. While this can be a source of richness and openness, it can also produce a subtle form of disconnection if individuals lose contact with the language, stories, and cultural imagination that shaped their own heritage. Without such connections, identity can become fragile, fragmented, and easily shaped by external influences.

Birden fazla kültürel ortam arasında büyüyen gençler, kendi miraslarını şekillendiren dil ve hikâyelerle bağını koparırsa, bir kopuş yaşayabilir.

This is not a challenge unique to Turkish families. It is a universal human question. Every society faces it. A French person must know the cultural memory and intellectual traditions of France. An English person must understand the literary and historical narratives that shaped English thought. An American must be aware of the cultural stories through which American society understands itself.

Bu, yalnızca Türk ailelerinin değil, evrensel bir insan meselesidir.

In the same way, Turkish families living abroad face an equally important responsibility: helping younger generations develop a meaningful relationship with their own language, cultural memory, and intellectual heritage. To know one's culture is not an act of exclusion or nostalgia. It is a way of establishing intellectual grounding and inner coherence in a complex world.

Kültürünü bilmek, dışlama veya nostalji değil; karmaşık bir dünyada entelektüel zemin ve iç tutarlılık kurma yoludur.

At the Heart of Everything

Bu sürecin merkezinde temel bir şey var

Stories

Human beings do not understand themselves merely through abstract concepts or information. We understand ourselves through narratives. Through the stories we inherit, the stories we tell, and the stories through which societies interpret their past and imagine their future. Literature, cultural narratives, historical memory, and shared language form the narrative frameworks through which individuals locate themselves in the world.

İnsan, kendini soyut kavramlarla değil, anlatılarla anlar. Edebiyat, kültürel anlatılar, tarihsel bellek ve paylaşılan dil, bireyin kendini dünyada konumlandırdığı çerçeveleri oluşturur.

When young people grow up without access to these narratives, they may possess knowledge and skills, yet lack the deeper cultural orientation that allows them to understand who they are and where they stand. For this reason, reconnecting language, culture, and narrative becomes not merely an educational task but a human one.

It is within this broader perspective that Tuzer Humanities Seminars is being envisioned.

Bu geniş perspektif içinde Tuzer Humanities Seminars tasarlanıyor.

Know your story before the world writes one for you.
